Britta van Boven

Britta van Boven (born 1978 in Gelsenkirchen, Germany) is a graduate of the International Business School of the Hanzehogeschool Groningen (NL) and the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen/Energy Delta Institute where she studied Gas Business Management. Britta started work at Gasunie in 2003 and held several management positions in the field of business development, regulation, commercial operations and strategy. Since 1 September 2023 she is CEO of Gasunie Deutschland. She’s passionate about what it takes to provide an affordable, secure and carbon neutral energy supply and loves to get new perspectives and insights by participating in conferences such as this.

Gasunie is an energy network operator. In the Netherlands and the northern part of Germany, we manage and maintain the infrastructure for large-scale transport and storage of gas. At the moment, this is mainly natural gas, but the energy transition will increasingly bring about a shift towards biomethane and hydrogen. We also collaborate in the construction and management of heat and CO2 grids. We ensure that this part of the energy supply is safe, reliable and as sustainable as possible, ensuring that everyone has access to energy, always. The network of Gasunie Deutschland (about 4.600 km) is an important part of Gasunie's more than 17.500 kilometer long pipeline network in the Netherlands and Germany. The two networks combined, act as a gas hub for Northwestern Europe. It connects Germany, the most important natural gas market in Europe with all the major international and domestic sources of supply.
