Dr Lars Gutheil studied law at the Westfl. Wilhelmsuniversität Münster. After a research stay at the Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Texas (USA), as a scholarship holder of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), he completed his doctorate in 2003 on the subject of ‘Work title protection in U.S. American law’. After his second state examination in law, he completed a two-year editorial traineeship at the daily newspaper ‘Rheinische Post’ in Düsseldorf. 

In 2004, he joined the German Chamber Network as Personal Assistant to the Managing Director of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Mittlerer Niederrhein. Two years later, he moved to the German-Dutch Chamber of Commerce (AHK) in The Hague as Head of Public Relations and Member Marketing, where he was responsible for setting up a new department and implementing new formats for member recruitment and political advocacy for eight years. In 2015, Lars Gutheil took on the role of Deputy Managing Director of the German-Baltic Chamber of Commerce (AHK) in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. In the three countries, he was primarily responsible for services and projects and was particularly involved in the areas of digitalisation, Industry 4.0 and supporting German investors. Since 2019, he has been a Managing Director of the German-Polish Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Warsaw.
